The U3A is an international organisation for those who have retired or semi-retired from full time employment and are in their third age. Teign U3A is centred on Newton Abbot and the surrounding villages in the area, with about 300 members. We hold a monthly meeting, at St Pauls Church Hall, Newton Abbot, on the 4th Thursday of the month at 2pm. Visitors are most welcome. Refreshments are available, so why not come along and see what we do? You will be made welcome by one of our greeters and have time for a cuppa and a chat with some of the group leaders and other members.
In addition to the monthly meetings, we have about 50 groups – Groups meet in Newton Abbot , Kingsteignton and the surrounding area. Our activities include knitting, painting and photography. We have 6 walking groups, a gardening group and a geology group. Another group looks at local history whilst another looks at family history. Mah Jongg, canasta and nomination whist are all played. We have both French and Spanish groups. This is only a selection – there really is something for everybody, including a coffee morning every month at various venues around Newton Abbot, where prospective members can meet and chat with some of the committee and existing members. Check out the groups category page for times and dates.
Our annual subscription is £30 and you can join as many groups as you like at no extra cost.
To keep members up to date with Events and Group News we produce a Monthly Newsletter, which is normally sent out by email, but is available in hard copy at monthly meetings to those members who do not have email. Those members who wish to receive the Newsletter by post can do so, but will need to provide the Membership Secretary with a supply of stamped addressed envelopes. New members are most welcome – please see the following pages for information or go to the U3A Contacts page above and send a message to 'contact us'- someone will contact you by email.
OR you can download a membership application form directly from the documents page
