Group Details For Nordic Walking

Group Description :
Nordic Walking is a total body exercise that is easy on the joints and suitable for all ages and fitness levels. It is performed with specially designed walking poles which are similar to ski poles. Nordic Walking involves applying force to the poles with each stride, this propels you forward as you walk. When used correctly, the poles take the weight off the knees and lower body joints – this makes you feel lighter on your feet and make the walking action more aerobic challenging.

The group is currently for those that are either experienced Nordic Walkers or have recently been taught how to Nordic Walk by a qualified Nordic Walking trainer.  It is accessible to anybody who has a reasonable level of fitness and have their own Nordic walking poles. We will be walking at Haldon Forest during the winter months.

We are currently applying for a grant to train a number of members who would like to learn the technique and purchase sets of poles for hire.
